|Friends of the Children - New York|
|About Us and Our Philosophy:
Friends of the Children – New York works to break the cycle of generational poverty by giving the most vulnerable children the ability to create a new story. We provide our children a long-term, salaried, professional mentor, whom we call a Friend, from kindergarten through high school graduation, 12.5 years – no matter what. Founded in 2001, we are committed to long-term impact and aspire to grow the number of children we serve in the next few years.
As part of the national Friends of the Children network, we follow a model that has been proven to break the cycle of generational poverty for children who face the highest risks, and we are part of an award-winning National scaling plan that will grow our impact to 25 cities by 2025. Friends of the Children – New York is committed to the communities we serve and to diversity in our workplace. We are an equal opportunity employer and as such, we do not discriminate against any team member or candidate because of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, or any other basis protected by law. We encourage all to apply because we believe a diversity of voices leads to better discussions, decisions, and outcomes for everyone.
Friends of the Children – New York is seeking an extraordinary leader to take the helm of our already-successful organization and provide the leadership we will need to continue to fulfill our mission and grow our impact. Externally, the Executive Director will be the public face of Friends of the Children – New York, building relationships with philanthropic and community partners and growing our presence and recognition in the New York community. Internally, the Executive Director will motivate and build the capacity of our dedicated staff team and will ensure that we have the necessary programming and administrative operations in place to achieve our goals. The Executive Director will report to the Friends of the Children – New York Board of Directors and will partner with the National President of Friends of the Children, with support from the National team.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a seasoned nonprofit leader to take an established Friends of the Children chapter to the next level, working within our national network during a time of unprecedented growth. We eager to welcome a collaborative team leader and entrepreneurial thinker who is passionately committed to our mission and the communities we serve.
