Position Summary 
IEA is currently seeking a driven, flexible, and relationship focused leader to join our team as Director of Programs. Reporting directly to our President, this individual will lead a small team of talented and passionate professionals, partnering with senior leaders in the organization to enhance the systems, structures, programs, and partnerships that will elevate the visibility of IEA’s unique work. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned programmatic leader to manage a portfolio of innovative and child-centered programs alongside a committed and collaborative team. This individual will ensure quality performance and outcomes, provide motivational management and direction, serve as a dynamic representative for the organization, and fully embody IEA’s mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of three Program Coordinators, ensuring that programmatic staff have all resources necessary to lead high impact programs that are responsive to the needs of the IEA community.
  • Evaluate and assess program impact, recommend program/policy changes, and direct program shifts and improvements in line with IEA goals. 
  • Partner with organizational leadership to ensure program effectiveness and vitality, including staff hiring, performance management, and professional development for team members. 
  • Be an active presence across IEA programs, including supervision of students and delivery of parent, community, and teacher education programs. 
  • Serve as an external face of IEA, developing and maintaining a presence in the gifted education landscape by participating in conferences, marketing events, and industry specific gatherings. 
  • Identify opportunities for new initiatives or program expansion, with particular attention to partnerships that enhance existing programs or that relate to the IEA’s strategic growth plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the development and monitoring of program budgets, ensuring all program reports required for donors and key constituents are completed in a timely and thoughtful manner.
  • Support fund development by serving as a trusted programmatic voice, collaborating on fundraising and grant writing efforts as well as ensuring timely and accurate submission of all relevant reports.  
Qualifications
  • 8+ years’ progressive leadership experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation in a youth development organization
  • At least 3 years of staff management experience and the ability to effectively manage direct reports to deliver high-quality programs to community members
  • Prior success in providing effective training and onboarding as well as ongoing support and mentoring to retain and develop talented team members
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills alongside the ability to represent IEA in a professional, engaging and dynamic manner; adept at working with and relating to diverse constituents in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to foster a supportive environment for both program participants and staff.
  • Thrive in a culture that is dynamic, mission-driven and child-centric, on a team that values results, flexibility, and humility; embody and act as a steward for IEA’s mission in interactions with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility to travel to program sites and provide an active presence on select evenings and weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in relevant fields preferred
