  • 98% of our rising ninth grade students enroll in college preparatory high schools
  • 100% of our high school students matriculate to four years colleges
Breakthrough New York is currently seeking two High School Coordinators to oversee their 9th -10th grade program and 11th - 12th grade program respectively.  As High School Coordinator, you will change the lives of NYC high school students by leading and supporting during their 4 years of high school as BTNY students and ensuring their placement and matriculation to selective 4-year colleges and universities. 
  • Oversee and manage programming and curriculum development for students, including Super Saturdays and Seminars.
  • Ensure that high school students achieve organizational goals:
    • 100% of high school students meet High School Excellence Rubric expectations
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, and on-going training of high school programming seasonal staff and interns
  • Lead relationships with programming host site, and site vendors/service providers, and families
  • Plan and chaperone student outings, including college campus visits, community service projects, and field trips
  • Manage site-wide data collection and evaluation systems
  • Other duties as assigned
Additionally, the 11th – 12th Grade Coordinator will:
  • Oversee and manage programming and curriculum development of Standardized Test Prep sessions 
  • Ensure that 100% of 12th grade students are admitted to and matriculate to selective 4-year colleges and universities
    • Lead and support the 11th and 12th grade students through their college application process
  • Has demonstrated leadership skills in a professional setting or through relevant internships
  • Has played a role in curriculum development, training, or leading workshops
  • Is confident with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint in particular) and comfortable learning new systems
  • Is a proven A-Player and practices:
    • Efficiency: Produces significant output with minimal wasted effort
    • Prioritization: Balances tasks and makes the right judgment call 
    • Critical and Reflective Thinking: Draws insightful conclusions from data and feedback
    • Attention to Detail: Identifies the important details, ensuring they do not slip through the cracks or derails project
    • Effective Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and articulately, adjusts for audience as appropriate
    • Leadership and Ownership: Understands their role as a leader on any project and team, resulting in successful outcomes regardless of their title or role using a “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Demonstrates excellence in BTNY’s Core Values:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Have taught or worked at a Breakthrough site previously (specifically with the High School / College Bound Program)
  • Are familiar with the selective college landscape and placement process
